Chief of Schools for Stafford Municipal School District
Dr. Dawn DuBose currently serves as the Chief of Schools for Stafford Municipal School District and as an Adjunct Professor. Most recently she served as the Leadership Development Officer in Houston ISD, as well as, a Smithsonian Science Education/Shell Oil Summit Mentor. Dawn served in Houston ISD for 22 years.
She graduated from Prairie View A & M University (PVAMU) where she earned degrees in Elementary Education (B.S.), Counseling (M.A.), and Educational Administration (Ed.D.) from Texas Southern University (TSU). She obtained Principal and Superintendent Certifications (University of Houston-Victoria), completed the Harvard University-Evolving Leadership Institute, and the Strategic Marketing Management Cohort (Rice University).
Honors received include Chi Sigma Iota International Honor Society, TLOD- Outstanding Educator Award (2009), Ivy League Educational and Charitable Foundation- Distinguished Educator (2014), National ABSE Principal of the Year (2015), Houston Chapter-NBMBAA, Educator Awardee (2017), TSU College of Education Honoree (2018), and the Houston Style Education History Maker (2021).
Board, professional, and civic memberships include the Texas Southern University- College of Education Advisory Board, Wharton County Junior College- Nursing Advisory Council, Texas School Safety Center, Gubernatorial Appointment (2008-2016), Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educators (Past President), TABSE, NABSE, ASCD, Texas Association of School Administrators, and American Association of School Administrators. Civic affiliations comprise of: PVAMU Alumni Association (Life), Houston (TX) Chapter of The Links Incorporated, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (Life), and Rotary Paul Harris Fellow.
